As a student at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota I passed by Goodsell almost every day.
This building was constructed in 1878 and was one of just three buildings on Carleton's campus when it was erected. It was one of the best observatories in the nation up through the second world war, and helped set the time for trains from Chicago to Seattle. It was home to one of the nation's first weather services.
